Requiem

Alas, people keep stealing the flowers in front of our house. The heartbreaking thing is when I find them on the sidewalk a few feet away. Sometimes I am able to rescue them by putting them in water. Well, "sometimes" means once.

Any who, here is a tribute to the front of my house. I slaved over it all while being pregnant. I have to confess though, it got rather weedy/grassy after Katherine was born.

This was much earlier this year.

 Part of it.

Ah, my glorious hydrangeas. These are the ones that are often stolen.

All of those morning glories are from two vines. The have even more blooms now.

Early spring, again. I poorly positioned the poppies so that the rain water from the roof pretty much killed them.

I planted several Iris bulbs. I had only tried bulbs once years ago and did it wrong. I was very happy with these. They were super cheap.

Overall, I have been very happy to have a place for planting. I grew up in the country with endless space for gardening. I missed it a lot from living in the city. Now that we are in town, at least I have something. I have glorious plans for the back lawn, next summer. I was too pregnant to capture it this spring and too busy with the baby this summer. Also, I thought it was filled with Poison Ivy, though it turned out to be the harmless Boston Ivy (I think... I'll find out).

Today.

So, today was pretty busy. Katherine was quite the needy child today. She only wanted to nap for an hour after being up for an hour. It was kind of crazy. Any who, she is sleeping now (after a super long fussy section) so all is well. She is sually very well behaved. I am not sure what went wrong today.

I watched the last Harry Potter with some friends; it was pretty awesome. I can't wait for the new movie. I read the books last year; they were gripping.

I took Katherine out on the porch for a few minutes today. I think she liked it. I would like to take her outside more often, but since we live in town and currently have no back yard to speak of, it is not very common. The rail by the porch steps is covered in Morning Glories. It is lovely. I planted a lot of seeds, but only two made it. The vine is so huge, I can only imagine what it would have been like if the others came up as well.

I just got my pattern from Sense and Sensibility today. It is pretty awesome. I am trying to think of a way to modify it enough so that it still has the same basic look, but is modern enough so I can wear it without feeling like I should be in a movie. HOWEVER I would just about sacrifice my teeth to be able to wear dresses like that all of the time. I always lament over the fact that beautiful dressing had to stop a mere 100ish years before I was born. For shame.

Firsts

Well, I decided to move from Wordpess to here. This site is easier to use. I am still trying to get everything set up. I am kind of going nuts trying to figure out how to create a header, haha.

Coming soon!
